2017 Blanket Drive

The VRF Youth Ambassadors’ 6th annual blanket drive for the homeless brought in
over 100 new blankets to the homeless and shelters housing children and families.

The idea for the blanket drive originated with Youth Ambassador President, Rachel Wims,
when she was in the 6th grade at Kingsview Middle School in Germantown, MD. This
year, Youth Ambassadors Leiah Bailey, Nick and Robert Caverly, Dexter Merritt, Sasha
Miller, Sydney Salgado, and Isaiah Washington helped with the drive.

Over the past 6 years, more than 1,200 blankets have been given to the area’s homeless by the Youth Ambassadors.

Special thanks to our partners: George Nash, Bethesda Chevy Chase Rotary Club, Jemery
Lichtenstien, RE/MAX of Bethesda, State Senator Nancy King, District 39, Montgomery
County Public Schools staff, Congressional Bank, Glen Echo Park, Goshen United Methodist
Church, Katey Boerner, Bold Concepts, Inc. and Milestone Cleaners at Travilah.
